Eko Fruits
Seasonal fruit from the Riverland
Eko Fruits is located in Renmark, South Australia, where the property was first established in the mid-1950s by Jim Logos. Initially, Jim’s 16-hectare property contained only citrus trees, including oranges, mandarins, and lemons. In 1980, Jim’s son-in-law, Bill Ekonomopoulos, and his wife Christine took over the property.
Bill and Christine worked hard to bring Eko Fruits to what it is today, diversifying the farm with a variety of different fruits and nuts. They grew avocados, mangos, apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums, cherries, oranges, lemons, almonds, grapes, and sweet corn. The warm Riverland climate allowed their customers to enjoy some of the earliest cherries and stone fruit to ripen Australia-wide.
Stallholders included Bill and Christine, their sons Louie, Mitch, and George, along with their wives Chelsea, Theodora, and Natalie, as well as Mitch’s father-in-law, Sam. With the help of his three sons, Bill hoped to keep the Eko Fruits family property thriving for many generations to come. They always enjoyed sharing their produce with the community.
When in season, you could find Eko Fruits’ stall outside the pavilion at the Adelaide Farmers’ Market.
