ASFM offers an array of events and promotions throughout the year to enjoy with family, friends or even on your own. Most events will be free to participate whilst others will require a booking and sometimes a small charge. Remember to pencil in these dates and join us at the market for an exciting lineup of activities.
Find the 12 Elves on the Market Shelves
On 3rd December join the Elves on the Shelves hunt at Market from 8:30 am to 12 pm. Enjoy the enchanting tunes of the Biodegradable Bards as you search for 12 hidden elves. Grab an entry form at the Information Booth, find all 12 elves, complete the form, and drop it in the entry box by 12 pm. You could win your own Elf on the Shelf! The prize draw takes place at 12:15 pm on Sunday, 3rd December 2023.
Christmas Every Week (Dec 2023)
The market has a sleigh full of activities planned for December, ensuring a festive atmosphere for the whole family:
• 3 Dec: Explore the market while finding the Elves on the Shelves, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the Biodegradable Bards.
• Dec 10: Enjoy the musical talents of the Ukelele Group and Concordia Quartet, plus make a Christmas Wreath at Kids’ Corner.
• 17 Dec: Santa returns for a Free Photo Op, a Jumping Castle for the little ones, and the enchanting tunes of SAYGE (SA Youth Guitar Ensemble) with Christmas Carols.
• 24 Dec: Kickstart your Christmas Eve with the Early Start Market (7:30 am to 11:30 am) and heartwarming Christmas Carols.
• 31 Dec: Welcome the New Year at the market with regular hours from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Santa's Coming to Market (17 Dec)
Get ready to welcome Santa to our market on Sunday 17 December 2023, from 9 am to 11:30 am. It's your chance to capture that last-minute holiday photo in our charming farmers' market setting – and the best part? It's absolutely FREE! Just bring your device, and we'll take the photo for you.
Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to snap a photo with your loved ones, whether it's family, friends, colleagues, or even a solo shot. And to keep the festive spirit alive, the SA Youth Guitar Ensemble will be performing live Christmas carols starting at 9:30 AM. We'll also have a face painter on-site to add some Christmas magic. Best of all, admission is FREE!
Festive Season Shopping Hours
December and January mark the peak of the festive season and what better way to celebrate than by visiting the Farmers' Market? The market is your ultimate destination for all your Christmas and New Year supplies in One Spot, you can even pre-order with selected stallholders to save time. Mark Your Calendar: The market remains open on Sundays throughout November, December, and January, running from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. There's only one minor time change to note: **Christmas Eve, Sun 24 Dec: 7:30 am to 11:30 am. We are open on New Year’s Eve (31 Dec) at the usual time.
Pre-Order to Pick Up🚒 CFS and Smokey at the Market (PAST)
On 26 November, the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) joined us at the market, bringing along Smokey the Koala. The CFS, relies on dedicated volunteers to provide essential fire and rescue services across SA. Last Sunday, many showed their support for these incredible volunteers by engaging in free, fun activities. Participants had the chance to take pictures with the mascot, Smokey, and let the kids try their hand at aiming the fire hose.
🎬 Movie Lover Winners! 🍿(PAST)
On Sunday, 5 November we handed out 10 double movie passes for the 2023 Cunard British Film Festival in Adelaide (November 1-29). 🎬✨ Congratulations to our lucky winners: Sarah Brown, Jane Miles, Sharyn, Susan Klus, Verity Gramp, Joan Huxtable, Cristin State, Jay Chong, Andrea, and Wendy Sutton.
They shopped with these fantastic stallholders between 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM and entered the 12 noon draw: Vespa Coffee, House of Honey Cake, Barmera Sweet Potatoes, Collett and Miels, Taronga Almonds, 4 Paws, Riviera Bakery, The Vegie Basket, Naranja, The Local Fish and Chippery.

Join us for a spook-tacular Halloween at the market on Sunday 29 October! Follow the Spooky Boo Signs for some trick-or-treating fun. Register at the Info stand, collect your Trail Card and return your completed card by 11.30am to the Info Stand, and you could win one of 2 fantastic hampers in our 12 noon draw. Don't miss the Kid's Club Scary Cup-Cakes activity at 10 am in the pavilion, Halloween face painting in the eastern end of the Pavilion, and live entertainment. Cooking Breakfast with Kane (PAST)
On Sunday 1st October we celebrated our 17th Birthday and Chef Kane Pollard delivered a 'Spring Breakfast’ demonstration in the Pavilion Kitchen. He demonstrated how to perfectly poach eggs, create blood orange Hollandaise, blanch asparagus and make herbed potato hash browns.
Celebrate 17 Years of Fresh, Local Goodness! (PAST)
The Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market has been the heartbeat of Adelaide for 17 years providing farm-fresh, seasonal produce to our community. We owe our success to the incredible support of our community. On Sunday 1st October we celebrated 17 years of growth and shared values with cake, a cooking demonstration, live entertainment and more. It as a fun filled morning with lots our local community joining us in the celebrations.

Pop Up Market Back in a New Location (PAST)
in September we held a series of 3 Pop-Up Farmers' Market on 3, 10 & 17 September 2023 at the Goodwood Primary School whilst the Royal Adelaide Show took place. The event was a huge success thanks to the support of our market community, stallholders, members, and the Goodwood Primary School. We would like to acknowledge the the support from the City of Unley, who have agreed to sponsors this event for the 3 years.

The Saxo Scandinavian Film Festival presented by Palace offers a curated selection of 28 films showcasing the best contemporary cinema from the Nordic region. This edition of the Festival will screen nationally in Australia from the 13 July - 9 August.

On the 2 July OZ Harvest coordinated a Cooking Demonstration at the market with acclaimed chef Genevieve Harris. It was a huge success as Genevieve showed market goers how to use every part of citrus so there is zero waste. The demonstration was held at 10am at the eastern end of the market pavilion.
A Big Splash for Kids (PAST)
Join us Sunday 25 June at the Market for a special charity event: ASFM Big Splash for Puddle Jumpers 🌟 From 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Adelaide Showground, we are rallying our amazing customers to make a difference by supporting Puddle Jumpers, an incredible organisation dedicated to helping South Australian children in need. We will have a dedicated stand accepting donations of any items. Every single donation will go towards making a positive impact in the lives of these children. Let's come together as a community and show our support for this wonderful cause. Spread the word, and let's together make this a day of giving that truly matters.
Urgently Needed ItemsFun Food Demo with Top Chefs! (PAST)
On Sunday 4th June were were join by renowned chefs Kane Pollard, Rosa Matto and Mandy Hall who delivered an exciting and informative food demonstration in collaboration with Slow Food South Australia to celebrate World Environment Day (5 June). This fun demonstration was hosted by Mandy Hall and showcased creative ways to utilise peels, tops, leaves, bones, and more, reducing packaging and waste while maximising nutrients and saving yourself money. It highlighted the importance of shopping locally with our incredible producers at the farmers' market. It was held inside the Eastern end of the market pavilion.

Through engaging and high-quality learning experiences outside traditional school hours, children will discover the importance of sustainable agriculture, gain insights into local farming practices, and deepen their understanding of seasonal food. Market Mum's Day Farmers' Market Hamper Winners
On Sunday 14th May at the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market celebrated “Market Mums’ Day” and gave away Farmers’ Market Hamper filled with farm fresh produce supplied by our very own farmers to two very lucky Mums. This was a limited draw and the prizes were drawn at 12 noon on Sunday.

Most weeks the market will have roving buskers performing and or will invite local musicians to join us in the Market Pavilion to create a great Sunday vibe for shopping.
This makes for a great Sunday morning outing watching live performances with a freshly brewed coffee and freshly cooked breakfast or brunch to get you bopping and shopping for your weekly essentials.
