Our Mission

We aim to offer:

  • An authentic experience and the opportunity to connect with local producers.
  • An opportunity for local producers to generate a viable income from direct sales.
  • Promote the value of healthy eating and also sustainable primary production within our community.

Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, supported by over 2,500 members. The first market was held on 2 October 2006. The market was established with the assistance of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society.

Our Vision

Providing a sustainable marketplace for South Australian farmers to sell their fresh, seasonal produce direct to the community.

Our Market promotes the manufacturing of South Australian primary produce. We also educate the community about the production and use of fresh food  and the importance of a healthy environment for food production.

Our Committee

A small team of staff is employed to manage the market. Policies and strategic direction are set by a committee. The volunteer committee comprises a mix of stallholders and market members:

Geoff Page - Chair
You may know him as the barefoot flower seller at Gooseberry Hill Farm stall but Dr Page's 35 years as a lecturer in agricultural economics at UniSA mean he has decades of specialist knowledge to share.

Bob Heath - Deputy Chair
'The Man with the Hat' at Najobe, Bob sells his free range grass fed beef, lamb and pork. Before he was a farmer Bob was a high school principle so he brings wide experience to the committee.

Albert Conterno - Secretary
Selling his family's artisanal sourdough breads and fresh pasta at 'From the Grain' inside the pavillion, Albert is also a valued and experienced committee member on the Victor Harbor Farmers' Market board.

Michelle Hocking - Treasurer
RHSA Representative and General Manager of The Royal Adelaide Show, Michelle is also a regular market shopper and great market supporter.

Alex Palin - Retail Specialist
Generously sharing his expertise in merchandising with our market, Alex is helping us to build a great shopping experience for market visitors.

Ruth Hundertmark - Sponsorship and Business Development Specialist
With a decade of experience in partner management, Ruth helps the market source potential sponsors, build agreements and identify business partners.

Molly Scanlon - Legal Representative
Solicitor Molly spends her Sundays shopping at the market, say hello to her Great Dane in pooch parking! Molly generously shares her legal expertise with our board, providing invaluable advice.

Joy Taylor - Market Member
Passionate about sustainable living, Joy and her tribe are regular shoppers. Working as a Contracts Manager helps Joy to advise the market on processes and systems as well as applicable legislation and corporate governance.

Bill Cooksley - Stallholder, Rich Pickings
A familiar face from his beautiful flower stall, 'Rich Pickings', Bill brings a wealth of experience to our committee having been Mayor of the Adelaide Hills Council for 10 years.

Sabine De Vuono - Stallholder, Just Gluten Free
Sabine was born and trained as a chef in Bologna. She has spent 20 years perfecting her range of gluten free products and sharing her expertise through cooking classes.
