We aim to offer:
- An authentic experience and the opportunity to connect with local producers.
- An opportunity for local producers to generate a viable income from direct sales.
- Promote the value of healthy eating and also sustainable primary production within our community.
Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, supported by over 2,600 members. The first market was held on 2 October 2006. The market was established with the assistance of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society.
Providing a sustainable marketplace for South Australian farmers to sell their fresh, seasonal produce direct to the community.
Our Market promotes the manufacturing of South Australian primary produce. We also educate the community about the production and use of fresh food and the importance of a healthy environment for food production.
A small team of staff is employed to manage the market. Policies and strategic direction are set by a committee. The volunteer committee comprises a mix of stallholders and market members:
Mem Ericson - Stallholder/Chair
Mem is famous at the market for her coffee, but what most people don't know is, Mem is also a farmer coming from a well known farming family in SA involved with Golden North. When Mem's not at the market making great coffee, she's often found rounding up the livestock on the farm.
Albert Conterno - Stallholder/Secretary
Selling his family's artisanal sourdough breads and fresh pasta at 'From the Grain' inside the pavilion, Albert is also a valued and experienced committee member on the Victor Harbor Farmers' Market board.
Michelle Hocking - RAHS Representative
RHSA Representative and General Manager of The Royal Adelaide Show, Michelle is also a regular market shopper and great market supporter.
Lynne Dickson - Treasurer/Vice Chair
Fellow of the CPA and AICD, Lynne brings almost two decades of experience to guide our committee's financial decisions.
Gay Wallace - Legal Specialist
Gay is a lawyer with over 30 year's expertise in commercial law which she generously brings to our committee, she is also a weekly market shopper and enthusiastic cook.
Sabine De Vuono - Stallholder, Just Gluten Free
Sabine was born and trained as a chef in Bologna. She has spent 20 years perfecting her range of gluten free products and sharing her expertise through cooking classes.
Diana Williams - Market Member
Diana brings two decades of experience in PR, media and events to our committee as well as many years of non-profit board experience.
Bob Heath - Stallholder
'The Man with the Hat' at Najobe, Bob sells his free range grass fed beef, lamb and pork. Before he was a farmer Bob was a high school principle so he brings wide experience to the committee.
