The Annual General Meeting of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, 11 October 2026, following the market in the Stirling Angas Pavilion.

Three Committee positions become vacant at the AGM. Nominations were called for and three nominations were received. As there were no more nominations than positions, the three nominated candidates are expected to be declared elected at the AGM and there will be no need for voting.

2026 Candidates

Geoff Page – Stallholder and Current Committee Member


Biography

Dr Geoff Page who many of you will know as the barefoot stallholder selling flowers and vegetable seedlings. Our Gooseberry Hill stall has only missed one showgrounds market since its inception. Apart from the Showgrounds, we also trade at the Adelaide Hills  and Willunga farmers markets. I have been an active researcher of farmers markets, both here and internationally and will bring what I and other researchers have found to the market. I also bring a strong understanding of governance to the board which is reinforced by my practical experience as an Ombudsman at University of South Australia. I bring a desire to get the next strategic plan undertaken to make us an even better market ready to thrive in the changing marketplace.

Why do I want to join committee?

I am keen to maintain a strong market that supports agricultural producers, that is dynamic but not one that forgets what the aim of a farmers market is. I believe we need to maintain the strong governance which we have now established, which means we are aways focused on what’s good for the market, the stallholders and the members as a whole. We need to diversify where we get our produce from within the state to avoid shortages in the future that could arise through climate and/or biosecurity issues.

What personal qualities do I bring to committee?

I bring the practical understanding of what is required to be a grower, stallholder so that market policy is developed with a view to being practical as well as efficient. I listen, think and then act or advocate. You will not find me trying to win cases on emotion, rather presenting a logical prepared case for change

Details of previous experience or qualifications that are relevant.

I have significant experience in being on boards and committees. I am a trustee on A.W. Howard Trust which supports pasture researchers, chair of the Adelaide Hills farmer’s market board, chair of the Meadows Memorial Hall & Community association and former deputy chair of the South Australian Agricultural Bureau.

I have served on the boards of several professional bodies earlier in my career and been a Head of school at University of South Australia with programs operating in several overseas countries.

What specific knowledge and skills would contribute to ASFM:

I have been an active researcher of farmers markets, both here and internationally and will bring what I and other researchers have found to the market. I also bring a strong understanding of governance to the board which is reinforced by my practical experience as an Ombudsman.

Mem Ericson –  Former Stallholder and former Committee Member

Biography

I have built a diverse career across media, coffee and food, and sustainability. I have managed a farmers market, owned and operated a coffee business and owned a sustainable, environmentally conscious local business. These experiences have given me a strong appreciation for people, community, food and the land. I have returned to agriculture as a beef farmer, combining my business experience with a passion for farming and the environment.

Why do you want to join the ASFM committee?
I love the market and enjoy being a part of it and love giving back to it.

What personal qualities would you bring to the committee?
Enthusiasm and the ability to work with others

 Carolyn Mitchell – Community Member


Biography

Carolyn has been a regular shopper and member of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market community since its opening day in October 2006. She has watched the market grow and develop over almost 20 years, supported it through numerous temporary relocations and built strong relationships with many stallholders. Her commitment to supporting South Australian producers has been unwavering.

Carolyn brings 40 years of experience in human resources, people and culture, and consulting, including senior management and executive positions and 15 years running her own consulting business. She has worked across the private and public sectors, including emergency services, local and state government, banking, universities, grain handling and employer associations.

Throughout her career, Carolyn has served on numerous boards, executive committees, steering committees and industry reference groups. These have included the Adelaide Bank Executive Committee and Superannuation Fund Trustee Board, the Australian Human Resources Institute’s State Council, and several government and community sector advisory groups.

Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide and an Associate Diploma in Human Resources from the University of South Australia.

Her extensive experience in human resources, governance and committee leadership, together with her longstanding connection to the market, will make her a valuable addition to the Committee.
