A Sweet Tradition: Handcrafted Honey Cake

Founded in 2019 by Maria and Pawel, House of Honey Cake brings the warmth of traditional Slavic desserts to the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market every Sunday. Using South Australian ingredients—including free-range eggs and honey from a local beekeeper in the Adelaide Hills—Maria handcrafts each cake in a council-approved commercial production kitchen, infusing every layer with quality and care.

The signature five-layer honey cake, made with caramel cream and topped with Australian walnuts, is a crowd favourite. With a shelf life of up to seven days when refrigerated, these cakes are perfect for families, office gatherings, or tourists wanting to take a taste of South Australia home. Available in slices, slabs, or whole cakes (pre-order required), they’re preservative-free and made without artificial colours.

House of Honey Cake also offers Napoleon Cake, another layered dessert based on an old recipe filled with honey. Ensuring there’s something to please every sweet tooth. Visit Maria and Pawel at  House of Honey Cake inside the pavilion each Sunday at the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market and experience Maria’s sweet tradition for yourself.
