Open Gate Farms
Pasture raised turkey and grass fed beef from Langhorne Creek
Dave and Liz Lohmeyer started Open Gate Farms growing pasture raised turkeys in 2023. They joined forces with Jim and Wendy who are 4th generation farmers on their property in Langhorne Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula. They work together, farming across the rich flood plains of the Bremer River.
Jim and Wendy have followed regenerative farming practices since 2013 with their cattle. Now they have combined forces with Dave and Liz to use the cattle and turkeys to help improve the health of the land while producing quality food for the local community. They aim to look after the land, the animals and the consumer.
Their turkeys are pasture raised. They live the good life outdoors and are moved onto fresh pasture each week, where they can forage naturally on grass, seeds and insects. Along with whole birds and turkey rolls, Dave brings a great range of everyday and less familiar cuts to the market, including fillets, steaks, mince, GF schnitzels, sausages and (salt only) turkey bacon. Check out the ingredients! We strive to use as clean ingredients as possible. Our sausages are preservative and grain free.
Open Gate Farms also produces beef that is 100 per cent grass fed and finished on the family farm on non-sprayed pastures. It is also grain free, bovaer additive free, antibiotic free, and raised using low-stress, regenerative practices. Look out for classic cuts including steaks, roasts, mince and sausages, conveniently packed in smaller portions.
Come and visit us outdoors at the Market on the second and fourth Sunday of each month throughout the year.
