Small Batch Sparkling Refreshment

Bringing a refreshing taste of the Adelaide Hills to our outdoor stalls is Nine Acres, with something a little different for those looking for a delicious alternative to traditional soft drinks.

Founded by Janie MacDonald on a nine acre hobby farm in the Adelaide Hills, Nine Acres began with a simple idea. To create a delicious, all natural drink that wasn’t a sugary soft drink, full of artificial sweeteners or trying to imitate alcohol. Just something refreshing, a little different and made with real local ingredients.

The result is a sparkling strawberry shrub, handcrafted in small batches using locally grown strawberries, apple cider vinegar, fresh lime juice and a touch of sugar.

But what exactly is a shrub?

Despite the name, there’s nothing leafy about it! Drinking shrubs have been enjoyed for centuries and were originally created as a way of preserving fruit. Nine Acres puts a modern twist on this tradition, creating a lightly tart, fruit filled sparkling drink with a lovely balance of sweetness and tang.

The process begins with fresh strawberries macerated in sugar to release their natural juices. Apple cider vinegar and lime juice are then added before the syrup is blended with sparkling water and canned.

The result is a naturally refreshing, low sugar, alcohol free drink with the natural prebiotic properties of apple cider vinegar.

Enjoy it chilled straight from the can, poured over ice with a slice of citrus, or as a mixer in your favourite cocktail. It’s a lovely alternative when you’re looking for something a little more interesting than your usual soft drink.

Made with just five ingredients and packaged in recyclable aluminium cans, Nine Acres is all about keeping things simple, natural and delicious.
