SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN OF THE YEAR 2022 has been announced:
The Winner is Christine Robertson

You know the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market (ASFM) is in good hands when the Executive Officer, Christine Robertson, is awarded South Australian Citizen of the Year 2022. 

Christine was awarded South Australian Citizen of the Year by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, at a ceremony held at Government House on Wednesday 30th March.  The Citizen of the Year Award recognises a South Australian who provides tireless and outstanding service to their community that makes a significant difference to the people of our state.

Mem Ericson, Chair of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market said:

“We are immensely proud of Christine and grateful to have had her with us for over three years as the Executive Officer at the market. This is a most deserving award and I congratulate her on behalf of the Committee and our entire farmers’ market community.”

Christine recently received the City of Charles Sturt 2022 Citizen of a Year award, an award presented to recognise individuals who have made a noteworthy contribution to a local community. 

Outside of the market, Christine has dedicated herself tirelessly to Lost Pets of South Australia Inc. – a charity she founded with two colleagues in 2013 to reunite families with their lost pets and run entirely by volunteers.

Christine also created the ‘Chipblitz’ program, which is now the largest pet microchipping program in the southern hemisphere.  Since its inception, Chipblitz has assisted the community in microchipping over 43,000 pets for just $10 each in over 292 locations right across South Australia.

Christine’s generosity, passion and dedication to the community is exceptional and she continues to have a powerful impact on families throughout South Australia and beyond.
