The Great Wool Round-Up

Supporting South Australian Knitters Who Give Back

  • 19 Jul 2026

Throughout July, Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market has been collecting clean, reusable wool and yarn from our market community to support South Australian knitting groups that give back.

With just two Sundays remaining, we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our market community. Thank you to everyone who has already donated. If you still have unused wool tucked away at home, there’s still time to add to our growing collection.

Donated wool is transformed into trauma teddies, blankets, comfort items and handmade gifts that bring warmth and comfort to people in need across our community.

Full balls, partial balls, skeins and remnants are all welcome, provided they are clean and dry. Collection bins are located inside the Market pavilion every Sunday throughout July.

This Sunday, we’ll be joined by the Red Cross SA Knitters, who will be demonstrating their craft inside the Market pavilion and showing visitors how donated wool is transformed into practical items that make a real difference. Feel free to stop by, have a chat and see their wonderful work in action.

Help us support South Australians helping South Australians by filling our collection crate before the end of July.
