Throughout July, Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is collecting clean, reusable wool and yarn from our market community to support South Australian knitting groups that give back.
Donated wool is transformed into trauma teddies, blankets, comfort items and handmade gifts that bring warmth and comfort to people in need across our community. If you have unused wool tucked away at home, we’d love you to bring it along.
Full balls, partial balls, skeins and remnants are all welcome, provided they are clean and dry. Collection bins will be located inside the Market pavilions every Sunday throughout July, making it easy to drop off your donation while you shop.
This Sunday, we’ll be joined by the Cumberland Park Community Centre Knitters, who will be demonstrating their craft and showing visitors exactly how donated wool is transformed into practical items that make a real difference. Feel free to stop by, bring your knitting and have a chat with the group.
Throughout the month, we’ll also be welcoming other South Australian knitting groups to the Market, giving visitors the opportunity to see firsthand how donated wool is put to good use.
Help us support South Australians helping South Australians. Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved as The Great Wool Round-Up unfolds.
